Key responsibilities

Strategic

  • Aligned to 1 or 2 businesses, this leadership position is a focal point for strategic advisor interface to the Supply Chain Directors/Leads and to the business, as desirable
    • The LBM will have a dotted line reporting relationship to the SC Lead with direct line to the Director of Global Logistics
    • May be physically located with the SCE execution team and close to the SCE leader
    • The Logistics Cost Analysts will report to the LBM
  • Center of Excellence Liaison – help to prioritize project hoppers and advocate for technology resources with appropriate COE contact
  • Scenario Planning – Primary thought leader to develop logistics options that shape or support business service requirements in alignment with the business supply plan scenarios, in both the tactical and strategic timeframe
  • Serve as SCE/Business primary point of contact for logistics related disruptions and potential disruptions
    • On complex, multimodal performance issues, this person will be the face to our partners
    • Weather, Strikes, Port closures, Derailments
    • Develop scenarios to offset potential disruptions (inventory, pre-positioning, alternate ports)
    • Impact and implement mitigating actions once they occur
    • Capture lessons learned to increase the logistics body of knowledge
  • Communicate constraints and opportunities for market level changes (e.g. Driver availability, regulatory changes, emerging technologies, and best practices) and the impact potential for the business
  • Able to represent all logistics across regions to the business
  • Identify Logistics pinch points (in the SQ horizon) in line with BU group / BU strategies based on close interaction with regions; communicate constraints and work with SCE to propose mitigating solutions
  • Advocate business needs when Logistics actions may run counter to business interests, as well as the reciprocal condition
  • Attend Step 3 S&OP meetings and carry the information back to Logistics Category Managers
  • Provide meaningful benchmarks that show where we are advantaged/disadvantaged with regard to transportation costs for each BU Group/ BU, and that actions being taken are aligned with EMEA / APR
  • Advocate and present business-tailored metrics that support initiatives
  • Serve as member of Business Supply Chain Leadership team and drive Logistics-related projects & KPIs
  • Work closely with Facilities management and Supply Chain Execution to develop and support the warehousing strategy for the business

Tactical

  • DCost and COGS related flow cost expert – Translate DCost drivers and business changes into accurate DCost forecasting by business
  • ABP
    • Provide advance options and cost information as supplied by the Cost Analyst, and develop the best position on costs prior to presenting the ABP results to the business
    • Fully understand business drivers to identify business-driven structural changes
  • Lead quarterly SCE/Logistics meetings, prepare and follow up on action items, and communicate progress
  • Work with Supply Chain Execution teams at various levels to forecast short/long term equipment requirements based on 24-month supply plans, and optimize capacity utilization for all modes and warehouses
  • Bring ideas for optimal use of logistics services, equipment, etc., and reduce cost
  • Understand underserved and/or unmet needs to create value and effectively liaise with regional logistics partners to resolve
  • Work with SC Execution Team and business/commercial teams for customer complaints/concerns, understand impact to/from other regions, and work with PSRs to address Logistics-related complaint trends and drive improvement
  • Attend Step 3 S&OP meetings and bring information back to Logistics Category Leadership – Informational Conduit
  • Serve as primary point of contact to resolve OTCR and OTCC discrepancies and determine root cause actions (keeper of this metric)
